Sunday Ride 8 January 2012

Happy New Year!

Tomorrows ride will see us leaving the Basingstoke Aquadrome Lower Car Park at 10:00, for a 30 mile spin around the lovely Hampshire lanes. We will do a “pick-up” at Overton and then continue in a loop to finish back at the Aquadrome about 30 miles later.

This is a “Beginners / Start-Againers” style of ride – so no one gets dropped, and we will generally go the speed of the slowest rider. Road bikes recommended. For those new joining us, please take a look at our “Group Riding” page as there is a lot of information there that you will find useful.

We particularly look forward to meeting those brave folk who attended our Friday meet for the first time, as well as the boys and girls from Basingstoke Hockey Club!

Christmas Eve running adventures

Well done to Chris Mison for setting a pb at Park Run this morning.  Was this with or without a Santa suit?? Any other park runners this morning?  I hear there are also Park Runs tomorrow and on Boxing Day – create that calorie negative before all that feasting!

Today was also the BMHAC runners Christmas run starting at Little London and ending at the Plough.  Warwick, Nick and myself represented the tri club.  Three groups went out so all had an excellent run – lots of slipping and sliding and a little muddy at the end…

Sunday Social Ride – 18th December 2011

Merry Christmas Santa!

This week is the week of the auspicious, infamous Santa Run, where CCB ride to Overton, run race against Overton Harriers and then return to The Watership Down PH for a few Christmas drinks before returning home along the Harrow Way to Basingstoke, to conclude with a few more drinks at The Bounty, Basingstoke. Anyone taking part please ensure you have lights fitted to your bike for the journey home. Oh, and also a quality Santa Suit!

For others not taking part in the Santa Run, we will start with the Santa’s at  Victory Roundabout at 09:00. For this fun ride, we will follow them to Overton, then head over towards Hungerford for a cafe stop before returning homeward. Important Prerequisite – your bike and person must be (safely) decorated with Christmas tinsel etc! Please ensure that it is well fixed.

This alternative ride is about about 69 miles. Please keep an eye on this page for updates. throughout the week.

Sunday Social ride 11/12/2011

As promised in the monthly update, there will be a social ride for this Sunday 11th December. As this is the monring after our Christmas do, we will be departing at the slightly later time of 10am, from the Aquadrome car park. There is a 30 mile proposed route heading out to Oakley, Whitchurch (not on the main road) Ceasars Belt, Hannington and home. If the general concensus is to do more miles I am sure we can find some!

Fingers crossed for good weather!

See you then if not on Saturday for Italian food and wine – a good warm up brick session for Riccione!!!

Sunday 4th December 2011

Sorry folks, we do not have a Squad ride on Sunday planned – lots of people are away, shopping, or getting over Saturday night! (Shocking!)

However there are plenty of alternatives for those that want to – both CCB and NHRC are riding Sunday so why not joint them instead? Or perhaps take the opportunity to do that long, steady run instead?

Normal service should resume next week  :-)

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing as many as possible at the Tuesday Turbo session.

Thanks

Daryl
